For Sachi, a Japanese restaurant in collaboration with Pantechnicon, we studied the materials, finish and detailing that capture the notion of wa (‘harmony’). Inspired by Tsuboniwa, a small Japanese garden, nature was brought indoors, wrapping the corridor with foliage and lighting to add a sense of breeziness to the basement restaurant.

For the Japanese-themed bar and bottle shop Sakaya, we came up with the idea of a hidden tearoom, floating on a cantilever above the bar area, taking full advantage of the high ceiling. The tearoom is encased by a shoji-like translucent cube, and when it's lit at night, it acts as a giant lantern, softly illuminating the entire sake bar.
